And now for the most important development of the postseason: The Bills’ refreshed run game

Are you ready? I feel giddy just typing this.

Time in the NFL doesn’t function in a normal continuum, so a game three months earlier can feel like it’s from another generation. And yet there’s something oddly satisfying about the fact that the state of any Chiefs-Bills matchup is the same today as it was when the two sides met in the early goings of the season.

We know the deal: Two once-in-a-lifetime quarterbacks. It’s tough (nigh-on impossible) to defend either Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes. It’s less about what you do as a defense (getting an inordinate amount of pressure is the only ‘real’ answer) and more about the quarterbacks. As a defense, you’re hoping one has an off-day. If they’re on – like all the way on – then, gulp. The arm strength, the size, the ability to extend plays, the ability to throw from funk platforms, to create outside of the carefully crafted confides of the system.

There are no good answers. But what’s also interesting is how both offenses now rely on the run …
