Sorting through the most valuable players on the offensive side of the ball heading into 2022
Building an NFL roster is like building a Jenga stack. Winning games requires stars; winning a championship requires quality depth. Building a contender is less about hoarding as many super-duper stars as possible on top of one another as finding good players at value.
In a hard-capped sport, value is king. The more pieces you can slide into the Jenga stack, the more chance you have of keeping the thing afloat as attrition drains a roster over the course of a season. Even the Fuh The Picks Rams, a side bloated with stars, needed to find Sebastian Joseph-Day, Brian Allen, A’Shawn Robinson, Eric Weddle, Greg Gaines, and Ernest Jones – valuable pieces on cheap-ish contracts – to offset the cash paid to Aaron Donald, Matthew Stafford, Von Miller, Jalen Ramsey and the team’s treasure trove of expensive VIPs.
So let’s look at the players across the league that represent the most value at their position heading into 2022. I’ve broken it down by cap hit, though with some (as noted) those values…
